Girls may benefit more from breast feeding

Breastfeeding is good for both baby girls and boys. But a new study shows some baby girls get a greater benefit. Researchers tracked a group of low birth weight, pre-term infants. Findings show baby girls who breastfed were far less likely than baby boys to develop serious respiratory infections.

It is believed there is something in breast milk that better activates a baby girl's ability to cope with those infections than boys.

This study appears in the journal Pediatrics.
