CHICAGO --A gas main leak forced the evacuation of an elementary school on Chicago's West Side.The incident happened around 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Arthington and Karlov Avenue. A Chicago water management construction crew hit a gas main.
About 40 children attending a summer head start program at Webster Elementary were sent home. Four nearby homes were also temporarily evacuated.
It took about 20 minutes to cap the leak. No one was hurt.
