Crosstown Classic adds to weekend fun

CHICAGO

The Chicago White Sox were looking for revenge after the Cubs swept them last weekend. In the part two of the match up, the South Side players got wins Friday and Saturday and were hoping to complete the sweep on Sunday.

Each of the Crosstown Classic games have been fun to watch, including the back and forth between the Cubs and Sox fans bouncing from Wrigley Field to U.S. Cellular Field. Saturday afternoon, it was an absolutely spectacular slugfest, reminiscent of the old television show 'The Odd Couple.' There was a full display of mismatched friends, spouses and folks cheering both of the two home teams.

This is one of those blockbuster summer weekends in Chicago with no shortage of things to do. From the Crosstown showdown to Pride Weekend, it's sort of like a buffet of fun.

"We got sausage, we got everything," said Cubs fan Ted Stryker, who was cooking out near the Cell.

"Once we leave here, we're going to stop over at the Taste of Chicago and just enjoy the weekend. Enjoy family, fun and a Cubs win," said Christopher Vincent, also a Cubs fan.

With the threat of strong storms in some parts of the ABC7 viewing area, the sun was shining over the stadium must mean Mother Nature is a baseball fan.
