New Salvation Army center gets $5M donation

An anonymous donor has given $5 million to the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center. The Salvation Army's divisional commander says the contribution brings the organization closer to its fundraising goal and will encourage other gifts.

The Kroc Center will provide the West Pullman community with arts, athletic and continuing education programs. The total project is estimated to cost nearly $160 million.

The Salvation Army hopes to break ground next year and open the center by 2010.
