"Number one, is the quality of the foods that we carry, especially our perishables, and secondly is the customer service," said Ron Bernardi, Sunset Foods.
You could spend all of your time at the deli counter. The salad options are dizzying-- southwestern bean, tart cranberry tuna, tortellini, crunchy cucumber and even Cancun chicken.
"Our salads are fresh. When we sell a platter, we go in the back and make a platter fresh so it doesn't sit around for days," said Bernardi.
The best part is the sampling, which I admittedly got carried away with, is if you don't like it, you don't buy it.
"We got the Grilled Turkey and Florentine right over here. Which is very good," said Bernardi.
They also do party platters of fresh fruits, homemade wraps and dessert samplers. In essence, if there's something you see that isn't to your specifications, they'll make sure it is.
"We'll slice it, we'll dice it, we'll do anything you want," said Bernardi.
Solid picnic staples, such as cheeses or whole rotisserie chickens are great for quick pick-ups. Over at the fish counter, they'll steam anything you purchase.
Then, cruise the produce aisle for some healthy snacks or desserts.
Once you've got your picnic supplies, get ready for the fastest, customer-friendly checkout. They will open lanes at will, all while unloading your cart for you.
"People don't mind to spend an hour to shop, but you don't want to spend an hour in the grocery line," said Bernardi.
