Police increase DUI enforcement over weekend

The Illinois State Police reminds drivers about their increased DUI enforcement over the holiday weekend. Officers are conducting more than 100 random roadside safety checks through tomorrow night.

Over the holiday weekend last year, four people died in crashes on state highways. Two of those deaths involved a drunk driver.

State police say anyone hosting a party can be prosecuted if alcohol is served to a guest who is later involved in a drunk driving crash.

Officers are also reminding drivers that if they plan to drink alcohol over the holiday, designate a sober driver. And they want to make sure all drivers and passengers buckle up.
