PARK RIDGE, Ill. --
Flames raced through an Italian restaurant in suburban Park Ridge late Thursday night. The Piano-Piano restaurant, which is located along Busse Highway, was closed and empty at the time. Firefighters could do little to save the business. By the time they got control of the blaze, it had burned through the roof and gutted much of the restaurant.
"I am surprised by a fire this large in the neighborhood. I feel bad because this restaurant is pretty new," said Haflina Sniezek, local resident.
Crews from several neighboring towns were called to help Park Ridge firefighters battle the blaze.
An investigation is now underway into what started the fire.
No one was hurt.
