Men open fire on police during chase

A Sauk Village officer was hurt when his bullet-damaged car crashed along the Bishop Ford Freeway early Wednesday morning.

The suspects got away but police found their car a short time later behind an apartment building on Chicago's South Side. Police say the car was reported stolen last week.

Chicago and state police, some armed with assault rifles, searched the area near 82nd and Woodlawn for the suspects but they were unable to find the men. Chief Tom Lacheta, Sauk Village Police Department

Officials say the owner of the stolen car spotted it at a gas station in Sauk Village and called police.
