"They went through the basement to the other side and they opened the door. The other man opened the bathroom and they saw the lady," said Linzey Rodriguez, victim's neighbor.
"The landlord and his friends saw the woman in the bathroom, and me, we all was waiting for information and they told me she's dead and all policemen came and all," said another neighbor Nancy Rodriguez.
Villalba-Honorato was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say she was apparently stabbed several times. The last time she was seen was late Friday night.
"We heard the baby crying at 2:00 a.m. After that, there was no noise. Sunday, I was here all day. I didn't hear anything," said Christine Mayorga, victim's neighbor.
Police do not have a motive for the homicide. But investigators want to question her boyfriend, Mario Puente, 29, about her death. They say he is a person of interest in the case but it is premature to call him anything more than that.
"We would like to speak with Mr. Puente. He is a person of interest in the death... and so we are working with law enforcement, locally and around the country, to see if can't locate him and bring him in for a conversation," said Dan Proft, Cicero spokesperson.
The couple lived in the apartment about a year, and by all accounts, they were quiet and seemed happy.
"They seemed the type that wouldn't fight. They didn't seem violent," Mayorga said.
The woman's 11-month-old daughter, Leslie Puente, is also missing. Investigators believe she is now with her father. An amber alert has not been issued for her because police believe she is not in any danger.
"The daughter is with her parent so we have no reason to believe she is in any harm that is why we didn't issue an amber alert," said Proft.
Cicero police suspect that Puente is driving a grey or green 1999 Ford Explorer with Illinois license plates X143269 or X143266. Anyone with information should call police at 708-863-COPS.
