More local Starbucks closures announced

More Chicago area Starbucks locations are closing as part of the company's plan to shut down underperforming cafes.The company had already announced the closing of two suburban stores. Now it is adding 17 more.

Crain's Chicago Business is reporting five of those stores are located in Chicago. Some cafes will be closing by the end of next month. The rest will shut down by next spring.

Earlier this month, the Seattle-based coffee giant announced 600 stores nationwide would be closing as part of a plan to slow expansion of the coffee chain.
