Handgun ban lifted in Morton Grove

MORTON GROVE The village board in Morton Grove voted 5-1 to lift the ban.

An ordinance cited the recent ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court that called the banning of handguns for homeowners unconstitutional. Since that ruling, the National Rifle Association has filed lawsuits against cities with handgun bans.

Morton Grove was the first in the nation to outlaw handguns. Chicago's Mayor Richard Daley has vowed to fight against lifting the city's ban.
