Exercise may reduce colon cancer risk

Apparently, a lot of Americans aren't aware of this. That's the finding of a study in the August issue of Patient Education and Counseling.

A sedentary lifestyle accounts for as many as 14 percent of all colon cancer cases in the US. People who get a lot of exercise have a 30-percent-to-40-percent lower risk of developing the disease.

But a survey of Americans finds only 15 percent say they use physical activity as a way of reducing their risk.
