US auto market sees rise in small car sales

Demand is increasing for small cars in the US auto market. USA Today is reporting that car manufacturers, including General Motors and Ford, say sales could reach three million vehicles this year.

Industry analysts agree with the estimate.

That would be an increase of more than 10 percent over last year's small car sales.

They say the challenge will be in producing enough small vehicles to meet the expected demand.

Ford, GM and Toyota have all increased production by adding shifts at their plants.
