Losing weight helps fight type-2 diabetes

Oregon researchers looked at the electronic medical records of over 2,500 patients that were recently diagnosed with type-2 diabetes. They found that patients who lost weight were more likely to reach blood pressure and blood sugar targets after four years -- even if they had regained the weight by then.

Researchers acknowledge that they don't know why the benefit is sustained, but they say no matter what, losing weight is a good idea.
