New fraud protection for credit card users

August 18, 2008 2:03:15 PM PDT
Visa and eight U.S. and Canadian lenders have launched a pilot program to alert credit card holders almost immediately when they may be the victims of fraud. To test the program, Visa will provide as many as 2,000 cardholders with alerts that come within seconds of suspicious activity on their cards.

The alerts will be sent to a customer's e-mail or to their mobile device.

If the pilot program is successful, Visa could offer the alerts to all cardholders.
