A group of ministers is leading another rally. They are telling parents to keep their children home on the first day. It's the latest support for a boycott of the first day of school.
The boycott was started by Reverend James Meeks, who is also a state senator. He is upset with the way the state of Illinois funds schools which relies on real estate taxes and state funding.
Reverend Meeks says that system shortchanges districts in less-affluent areas.
CPS officials say the first day of school is very important because funding is based on attendance.
