It will soon be time to hit the books for Chicago Public Schools students.. The first day of school is September 2.

The push is on to make this a safe and successful year. There was lots of music and dancing in the streets of Englewood Saturday W. 56th and S. Halsted. Students, teachers and plenty of other folks were getting ready to return to class.

Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, Police Superintendent Jody Weis and other officials were also walking the parade route. Some children even got free school supplies.
