As the Labor Day weekend approaches, gas prices are dropping. The national average price for regular unleaded gas is $3.66. That is down .29 cents from last month. In Chicago, the average is around $4.01.

The drop in gas prices couldn't come at a better time for holiday travelers. Many people will be hitting the roads to enjoy the Labor Day weekend.

Chicago's airports are gearing up for the holiday travel rush. More than 1.3 million people are expected to pass through this weekend.

"On Friday, we traveled and it was a madhouse here at O'Hare. We get out early. Fly down to Tampa and enjoy our holiday weekend," said Doug Mavity, passenger.

According to a recent report, gas prices could drop to $3 a gallon for regular leaded by the end of the year.
