Detours will be posted around the bridge from 11 p.m. Thursday until 6 a.m. Friday. The closures are needed to allow crews to install sheet piling for the new river-level walkway beneath the bridge.
This is the first connection walkway to be built. City officials say eventually, walkways will be installed under all the Chicago riverwalk bridges.
