An interactive science lesson was taught Tuesday at Daley Plaza. A group of science enthusiasts pedaled on stationary bicycles. But they weren't just burning calories; they were helping generate electricity for a press conference.

It was all part of "Science Chicago - Life's a Lab," which is being billed as the world's largest science celebration. The goal is to awaken the inner scientist in us all, whether you're a child or adult.

"I encourage all Chicagoans to learn about Science Chicago, to take advantage of many of the opportunities, the offers of exploration for learning and of course for fun," said Chicago Mayor Richard Daley.

There are several science events tied to Science Chicago, including free admission Saturday to the Museum of Science and Industry.
