CTA puts digital ads in buses

CHICAGO On Monday morning, CTA president Ron Huberman unveiled the new digital display board on the curb side of a bus.

Starting Tuesday, the agency plans to test the display board on a bus operating along the number 124 Navy Pier route. The new advertising medium is expected to generate $101 million over 10 years.

"This is part of an effort to find ways to generate revenue in areas besides the fare box," Huberman said.

The boards are also designed to improve customer communications during an emergency.
