The science on cell phone use and brain tumors has been mixed. But the majority of well designed studies have found no link. What's more, between 1996 and 2005, brain tumors have declined slightly among Americans. Still, cell phones are a relatively new technology, and some experts are concerned that long term use in children could be harmful.
A House government reform committee met Thursday to discuss with scientists and lawmakers the status of research on this topic.
A major wireless industry association declined to be a part of the discussion, saying the debate is best left to scientists.
The committee is not yet making any recommendations.
