The three candidates battling over the 11th congressional seat had a debate of their own Monday evening at Kankakee Community college. The 11th district covers many south and southwest suburban communities.

The forum Monday night covered various topics, but the economy was foremost in the minds of many voters.

Democratic candidate, Debbie Halvorson, who was against the bailout said Monday night, "We need to do more to keep people in their homes. We need to get at the root of the problem, what caused us to get at this point and we need to loosen up the credit situation."

Republican Marty Ozinga said, "The bailout, which I was in favor of, is all about providing liquidity to the banking system. We are on the brink of catastrophy and we need to do something now."

Green Party Candidate, Jason Wallace told the audience, "I am completely against the bailout. To me, it was a bailout on the american people and our dreams. To me, it's just a bailout for corporate greed that this country has had and to me we need to have solutions not a bailout."

The candidates are running for the seat vacated by Republican Jerry Weller.. who decided to not run for re-election.
