Boy remembered 16 years after shooting death

CHICAGO Community activists held what they called a peace party at Jenner Academy in the 1100-block of North Cleveland Tuesday.

In 1992, 7-year old Dantrell Davis was shot and killed while walking to class at Jenner.

At the time, Davis' death put intense focus on the problem of gang violence in the Cabrini-Green housing complex. Several high-rise buildings that once surrounded the school have since been demolished.

Organizers of the community rally wanted to pay tribute to Davis. They are also asking the city to bring a "Dantrell Davis Way" street sign back to the neighborhood.
