ABC 7 Chicago Political reporter Andy Shaw will moderate the first televised debate among the three candidates--Anita Alvarez (D) Tony Peraica (R) and Thomas O'Brien (Green Party)-- who are in the race to head the second largest prosecutor's office in the country. ABC 7 is partnering with the League of Women Voters of Cook County to present this debate live on ABC 7's 7.2 (Comcast channel 217 and Wide Open West channel 101) and on ABC 7's Web Site, abc7chicago.com Thursday, October 23 at 7:00 PM.

The debate will have an encore presentation on Tuesday, October 28 at 7:30 PM on 7.2 and on the station's main channel, ABC 7, on Saturday, November 1 at 1:30 PM. In addition, the debate will be featured on-demand at abc7chicago.com. After more than a decade, incumbent State's Attorney, Dick Devine is stepping down, leaving the office open for new leadership. In a taped report, Andy Shaw will examine the State's Attorney Office for Cook County, which oversees 850 prosecutors, taking a look at the responsibilities and expectations of the job. During this half-hour forum, the candidates will have the opportunity to sit down with Shaw and talk to voters about important issues and their plans for leading this powerful office.

Christopher Bowen is the producer of "The Race for Cook County State's Attorney: The Candidates Debate."
