Members of National Guard honored

CHICAGO The 935th Intermediate Maintenance Company was deployed in July 2007. Members served in Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanistan in support of operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. Their duties included aircraft maintenance.

During a ceremony Saturday afternoon, members received flags, coins and a certificate of appreciation. Some said their deployments were learning experiences, but it was good to be home.

"It was a good experience. Actually, I kind of miss it, but I did miss my family life. I came home to a new son," said Sgt. Marcus Williams.

"Now, I get to be a part of everything. My daughter started her school. First grade. I went on her first field trip yesterday. So, yeah, it feels real good...good to be home," Sgt. Hector Casas said.

The Guard members returned home in July.
