Visits to online retailers decline

This may not be a merry holiday season for retailers. The internet monitoring group HitWise says online retailers have seen a decline in visits by consumers for the eighth straight week.

Online music sites saw the largest decline in traffic, followed by computers, ticketing, toys, videos and games.

HitWise says the continued decline implies that holiday spending will be down both on the internet, as well as in stores, because many shoppers price items online before going to a store to purchase them.
