CHICAGO --Good Morning America co-anchor Robin Roberts, a breast cancer survivor, was in Chicago over the weekend stressing the importance of regular medical exams.Roberts spoke to the Life in the Balance Survivorship Conference, which was sponsored by the Breast Cancer Network of Strength. She said she found a lump, promptly had a checkup and was cleared by a mammogram. Fortunately, her doctor also requested an ultrasound, and a tumor was detected. A needle biopsy confirmed the diagnosis.
The television anchor also talked about how a victim's survival may depend on whether cancer is found early, before it spreads.
