Our guest is Congresswoman-elect Debbie Halvorson of the southwest suburban 11th District. She's the third Democrat in the past four years to win a suburban congressional seat held for years by a Republican (the others are Melissa Bean and Bill Foster). Halvorson is the No. 2 Senate leader and the first woman to serve as majority leader. She was elected to the Senate in 1996, the same year Barack Obama was elected, and she served with him for eight years.
