NU postpones Ayers speech

November 19, 2008 2:46:19 PM PST
Northwestern University will reschedule a speaking engagement that featured William Ayers. Ayers, whose connections to President-Elect Barack Obama became an issue during the campaign, was invited to speak by the school's Muslim Cultural Students Association.

Ayers co-founded a radical group responsible for setting off bombs at the pentagon and the U.S. capitol in the early 1970's.

Obama has described Ayers as just somebody he worked with on a school reform group and a charity.

University officials say they have not set a new date for the speaking engagement.
