Beaujolais wines released

It's time for an annual event in France. Winemakers released the new vintage of Beaujolais nouveau.

By law, Beaujolais producers in France cannot start selling the light and fruity, low-cost vintage until midnight on the third Thursday of November.

There was a festive atmosphere surrounding the release even though poor weather yielded the smallest grape harvest since 1975.

The United States and Japan top the consumption list of Beaujolais nouveau.
