Restructuring underway within police department

CHICAGO Superintendent Jody Weis has eliminated the first deputy superintendent's position, and instead created two assistant superintendent positions.

Weis named the current first deputy, James Jackson, as assistant superintendent for law enforcement operations. Beatrice Cuello will be in charge of administrative services. Together, Cuello and Jackson have more than 45 years experience with the department.

In this latest shuffle, there were a total of nine promotions and eight lateral moves in the police command staff.
