Visitation to be held for Shaw

Family, friends and colleagues pay their respects to Dolton Mayor William Shaw. The 71-year-old died last week after a battle with colon cancer.

Visitation continues until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the New Zion Fellowship Church in Dolton. His funeral will be Thursday morning at 10.

Shaw was Dolton's first African American mayor. He also served in the Illinois General Assembly.

As a state senator, he co-sponsored legislation making it mandatory to teach African American history in Illinois public schools.
