Mistrial declared in shooting death of 14-year-old

Jury deadlocked in two-year-old murder trial
December 7, 2008 (CHICAGO) Starkesia Reed, 14, was in her Englewood home getting ready for school when a bullet intended for someone else went through the front window of her house and hit her in the face.

Carail Weeks, then 24, was charged with the crime. Police said he was trying to kill two drug dealers. His lawyer said there was no physical evidence linking him to the crime.

Prosecutors said the bullets came from a gun Weeks bought, but the jury was deadlocked.
