South Side food company shut down

Chicago's Dumpster Task Force has shut down a South Side food company that was infested with mice.El Pajarito products at 4045 South Kedzie packages and sells confections, nuts and spices.

When inspectors arived there on Monday, they found more than 275 mouse droppings, some of them in the kitchen.

El Parajito was cited for inadequate pest control and for failing to keep the premises rodent proof.

The Dumpster Task Force is part of the Department of Streets and Sanitation.

Deputy commissioner Josie Cruz said, "they need to cleanse their business of mice and filth and take steps to keep it clean and pest free if they want to stay in business."
