Daley chief of staff joins Chicago 2016 team

CHICAGO According to the Chicago 2016 Chairman and CEO Patrick Ryan, Lori Healey has been named president of Chicago 2016; Robert Ctvrtlik has been named vice chairman for International Relations; and Mike Roberts will take on an expanded role as vice chairman of Chicago 2016.

"We have terrific leadership in place at Chicago 2016, and the increased involvement of Lori, Bob and Mike will only enhance our bid as we move into the final ten months of the campaign," said Patrick G. Ryan, chairman and CEO of Chicago 2016, in a released statement. "Each has served as members of our board of directors, and they all have participated in our international relations activities up until this point. We welcome their increased involvement in our efforts to host the 2016 Games."

Healey, who served as chief of staff to Mayor Daley, will oversee the bid's community outreach and government relations activities, Olympic Village development and implementation of legacy programs. Healey will join the bid full time in January.

Ctvrtlik, a three-time Olympian and two-time medalist in men's volleyball, will lead Chicago's outreach activities to the International Olympic Committee (IOC), National Olympic Committees and international sporting federations. Ctvrtlik served as one of three U.S. members of the IOC from 1996 to 2008.

Roberts, who is currently vice chairman of Chicago 2016, is responsible for overseeing all marketing and communications activities for the bid from the board level. He will take on a more active day-to-day role with the bid, and in addition to marketing and communications, will also be active in the areas of sponsorship, advertising, grassroots marketing and building the bid's national and international presence in support of Chicago's candidacy. Roberts is founder and chairman of Westside Holdings and was formerly president and COO of McDonald's Corporation.
