Crews halt Trump Tower spire construction

Weather in the Chicago area halted construction at the top of the Trump Tower. High winds forced contractors to abandon the helicopter installation of the spire on the 92-story skyscraper Saturday morning.

The whipping winds prevented construction workers from aligning an airlifted section with the spire's already-constructed base.

The company in charge of erecting the spire was expected to decide later Saturday whether the chopper would try again Sunday, when the forecast calls for conditions that could be just as bad or worse.
