Woman rescued from townhouse fire

Firefighters rescued a woman from her burning home in the north suburbs.The fire broke out Friday night in a townhouse on Georgetown Way in Vernon Hills. it burned through the building's second floor and attic.

About 40 firefighters from Lincolnshire and neighboring towns responded. They found a woman on the landing of the townhouse and carried her out.

:"There was heavy fire showing from two sides," said Chief Fred Kruger, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District. "Had it not been for the efforts of the first company... the outcome of the patient might have been completely different."

The woman was treated for minor injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
