Obama grew up in Hawaii.
The first family rented homes with close friends at Kailua Beach, which has 2 and a half miles of pure white sand.
"It's a home fit for a King," said David Zimel, Paradise Point Estates. "This was a place where royalty actually gathered. So I think it's pretty fitting that we have our next president spend some time here and try to relax."
Each of the three rented homes has 5,000 square feet with waterfalls and a lagoon pool.
Zimel's company owns two of the homes and said the Obama were pleased.
"They smiles a lot," said Zimel.
