Dieting may impair ability to fight flu

You can justify the procrastination as protection against the flu.

A study in mice finds that dieting at this time of year could impair your body's ability to fight the flu virus.

Scientists at Michigan State University say mice on a lower calorie diet were not able to produce the right cells needed to fight an infection.

But researches say this should not be seen as a reason to avoid dieting all year. Consider reserving weight control for the warmer months when the flu is not so virulent.
