The Chicago company of Wicked has broken all box office records in Chicago theater history. The popular musical based on the Wizard of Oz grossed nearly $1.8 million last week.

Wicked, which has reached nearly 3 million people, ends its Chicago run at the end of the month.

Wicked cast members will headline a special benefit show called "Defying Inequality" on Monday night. They will join performers from Jersey Boys, Grease, Second City and the Chicago Gay Men's Chorus at 8 p.m. at the Park West in Chicago.

The cabaret show will benefit four non-profit charitable groups working to protect civil rights for the gay and lesbian community.
