January 27, 2009 --Many women turn to herbal remedies to treat the symptoms of menopause. Now, a new study says, they don't work. The study in Drug and Therapeutics Bulletin finds a review of remedies such as black cohosh, red clover, ginseng and more reveals little evidence they are effective.
Researchers also found a lack of standardization or quality assurance for these preparations.
Researchers say women should inform their physicians about the products they are using and it should be investigated.
