Arrest made after 3-hour chase

January 30, 2009 (ELK GROVE VILLAGE, Ill.) The chase reportedly started in Springfield just after midnight early Friday when police attempted stopped a Dodge Neon, Illinois State Police District Chicago said.

The driver took Interstate 55 north and was in southwest suburban Channahon by 2 a.m., State Police said. Channahon police confirmed the chase went through the town, but could not provide further comment.

The driver then fled north on the North-South Tollway (I-355) and was traveling in the wrong direction at least once, Illinois State Police Tollway District said.

By 2:40 a.m., the Neon was north of the Army Trail Tollway and was driving without a right wheel, State Police Tollway District said.

At about 3 a.m., Oak Brook police arrested the male driver near Illinois Route 53 and East Higgins Road in Elk Grove Village when the car drove over spikes, State Police said.

Springfield police could not immediately provide further investigation.
