Kenyan boys' choir inks record deal

February 5, 2009 The Boys' Choir of Kenya performed on the National Mall during the inauguration celebrations.

The man who founded the group thinks the exposure helped them land the record deal. They signed the paperwork at London's Heathrow Airport as they traveled home.

The choir started 10 years ago. Members must have good grades. The money they bring in will help pay their school fees.

"This is like their second home. Some of these boys are orphans and many come from humble economic backgrounds," said Joseph Muyale, artistic director, Boys' Choir of Kenya.

The goal of the choir is to help the young men become future leaders.
