Renowned author and professor Dr. Cornel West joined the Black History Month celebration at St. Sabina Catholic church. In his introduction, Fr. Michael Pfleger called West a 'brilliant educator and philosopher.' Dr. West is a professor at Princeton University. He has written a number of books, including Race Matters and Restoring Hope.

West told the congregation that visiting them each year is special for him, and he discussed how history was made since his last visit.

"It is a new moment. When I stood here a year ago, we were on the way to 'Super Tuesday.' It's true. We live in the age of Obama now. Oh yeah, that's real," West said.

After the service, West signed copies of his latest book.
