February 11, 2009 (CHICAGO) --There will be big changes for Chicago's parking meters beginning on Friday, February 13. On Friday, workers will begin adjusting meter rates. They'll start in the Loop area and are expected to complete the changes citywide by early March.
Rates are going up anywhere from a quarter to a dollar an hour. Meters will need to be fed 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
The rate hikes are part of the one billion dollar deal to privatize the city's meters.
