Fines for handheld cell talk while driving to rise

The fine for driving while talking on your cell phone without a hands-free device in the city of Chicago is going up.The ticket for the offense is going up from the current $75 to $100. And if you're involved in an accident while talking on a cell phone without a hands-free device, that fine is increasing to $500 from the current $200.

The city council approved the higher fines, which take effect in about 10 days.
