AT THE MOVIES: Oscar Predictions

Who do you think will win an Oscar this year? The wait will soon be over for the actors, actress, directors and others nominated for Academy Awards this year. The Oscars will be handed out on Sunday during a live broadcast on ABC. Can you predict the winners better than the experts? Film critics Ben Lyons and Ben Mankiewicz, co-host of "At The Movies," here on ABC 7 have made their picks. They have definite opinions about the most likely winners and probable losers. They know which films to run out and see before the Academy Awards, and which ones to not to bother with at all. BEN MANKIEWICZ

Co-Host, "At the Movies"

Ben Mankiewicz is co-host of "At the Movies," television's most popular and respected movie review program. He and Ben Lyons were named the new co-hosts in July, 2008. Ben Mankiewicz has been a popular host for Turner Classic Movies for five years. He was also the host of "The Young Turks" on Sirius Satellite Radio, a live, daily alternative talk show discussing politics, film, pop culture, sports, and media. Prior to his work on Turner Classic Movies, Mankiewicz was a reporter and anchor for WCSC-TV in Charleston, South Carolina and he also served as the anchor of "The Times," a daily news magazine at WAMI-TV Miami.

BEN LYONS
Co-Host, "At the Movies"

Ben Lyons is co-host of "At the Movies," television's most popular and respected movie review program. He and Ben Mankiewicz were named the new co-hosts in July, 2008. A native New Yorker and best known as E! Entertainment's resident film expert, Ben Lyons interviews actors and reports from film festivals around the globe. His versatility as a host and critic finds him on the red carpet and reviewing films for "E! News," "The Daily Ten," as well as his featured blog and original broadband series, "The Lyons Den," on E! Online.

Lyons was recently seen as the co-host of Nickelodeon's "Guts" remake titled, "My Family's Got Guts". The series featured extreme sports competitions such as sky slam, flying football, super toe penalty kick and free run city and was filmed on location at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. The multitasking Lyons can also be seen as the West Coast Entertainment correspondent for ABC's "Good Morning America," profiling movie makers and interviewing celebrities for the top rated morning show.

Lyons first gained on-camera recognition on MTV's "Your Movie Show" and he worked behind the scenes as well as a segment producer on the nationally syndicated, 'Hip-Hop Nation'. Lyons also went on to produce many music videos for artists seen on MTV, BET, Fuse, and MySpace.

"At the Movies" is currently in its 23rd season in national syndication. ABC Media Productions oversees production of the series, which is distributed by Disney-ABC Domestic Television. The series is produced at WLS-TV in Chicago and David Plummer serves as executive producer.
