Jackson has been at the Urban League almost three years. She previously worked as national director of state and local affairs at Amtrak and was the first press secretary to then-Governor Rod Blagojevich. Jackson left during the former governor's first term.

Crain's Chicago Business reports that Cheryle Jackson is considering jumping into the race. In an interview she explained she has to consider what she can bring to the table given the economic crisis.
