If the lure of a toner body and better cardio health isn't enough, how about getting exercise to protect your eyesight? Two new studies of runners show the more miles men and women ran the less likely there were to develop age related macular degeneration.

Running also lowered the cataract risk for men.

Exercise has never been seen as a way to prevent AMD, but researchers say their findings provide yet more evidence that vigorous physical exercise has far reaching benefits.

There is more on this research in the January issue of Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science.
